Wholesale Bakers Slam Proposed FDA “Added Sugar” Rules

The American Bakers Association, the industry group of the wholesale baking industry, submitted comments highly critical of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s supplemental proposal that would require the Nutrition Facts label of packaged foods to include the percent daily value (%DV) for added sugars. In its comments, the Association said that an “added sugars” label and a daily value are not supported by sufficient scientific evidence and risks confusing consumers. [10/20/15]
