Powdered Alcohol Product Gets Nod from FDA, Scrutiny by Congress

The FDA recently approved labels for Palcohol, a powdered alcohol product manufactured by Lipsmark, LLC. Two days later, New York Senator Charles Schumer said he will introduce legislation seeking to ban the product he called “Kool-Aid for underage drinking.” A company spokeswoman says that there should not be a double standard between liquid and powdered alcohol. Banning the product, as five states have already done, will only create a black market, taking distribution control and tax revenue away from government. [3/13/15]
