Pa. Court Rules Risperdal Plaintiffs May Seek Punitive Damages

A panel of the Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled January 8 that plaintiffs asserting claims against Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Pharmaceuticals unit over the drug Risperdal could seek punitive damages if their home states allowed such damages.  Previous rulings had prevented plaintiffs in the several thousand lawsuits pending in the Keystone State from seeking punitive damages because the law of New Jersey, where Johnson & Johnson is based, does not allow such damages.  [1/12/18]
