Jury Hits VW, Honeywell for $4.8 Million in Unintended Acceleration Case

A federal jury in Georgia found Volkswagen Group of America Inc. and Honeywell International Inc. liable for accident allegedly caused by unintended acceleration. The jury found that the design of Honeywell’s supercharger in the plaintiff’s VW Passat was defective and awarded total damages of $8 million.  However, because the jury found VW and Honeywell only 60 percent liable, their share of the awarded damages would be $4.8 million.
