Indictment Alleges Supplement Maker of Forged Documents, Sale of Controlled Substances

A recently unsealed indictment accuses Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and two of its senior executives of wire fraud, money laundering, introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce and manufacturing and distributing controlled substances.  Among other things, the indictment alleges that the company and its executives forged FDA Certificates of Free Sale and created bogus Good Manufacturing Practice certificates and audit reports.  The indictment also alleges that at least five of the company's “prohormone” supplements contain anabolic steroids, which are   controlled substances.
