Homeowners Concerned About Formaldehyde in Laminated Flooring

Consumers have flooded state agencies with inquiries after a “60 Minutes” episode accusing Lumber Liquidators of selling laminate wood with high levels of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde exposure can cause immediate health problems like respiratory and sinus effects, though the effects of long-term exposure remain unclear. Currently, there are no federal rules to protect consumers from formaldehyde or most other airborne chemicals in their homes. Lumber Liquidators said it was considering offering air testing services to reassure concerned consumers. [3/12/15]
