GMO Labeling Bill Advances in House
The House Agriculture Committee, on a voice vote, passed the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015. The Act would create a federal standard for voluntarily labeling foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs), preempt states from enacting their own mandatory labeling laws (as Vermont, Connecticut and Maine have done), and would prohibit state and local governments from restricting GMO crops.
