GM Settles with Family that Exposed the Ignition-Switch Defect

GM entered into a confidential settlement with the parents of a Georgia woman whose fatal crash led to the discovery of the GM ignition-switch defect.  The parents refiled suit to rescind an earlier $5 million settlement by alleging that GM misled them by hiding its knowledge of the defect.  The new settlement was negotiated with GM’s victims’ compensation fund administrator who has approved 64 death claims as eligible for recovery.
