$9.4 Million Mesothelioma Verdict Against Georgia-Pacific

A Florida state court jury returned a $9.4 million verdict against Georgia-Pacific LLC in a case brought by a construction worker who said that his exposure to Georgia-Pacific’s asbestos-containing products in Saudi Arabia in 1977 and 1978 caused his mesothelioma. The jury awarded $17 million in damages, but found that the plaintiff was 15 percent responsible and his then-employer 30 percent responsible for the damages, meaning that Georgia-Pacific is responsible for only 55 percent of the awarded damages.
