FDA Issues Rule On Selenium in Baby Formula

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announce a rule requiring baby formula labels to list the mineral selenium under required nutrients starting June 22, 2016, and also establishing a safe range for selenium in infant formula.  Announcing the rule, the FDA said that the mineral found in breast milk is an essential nutrient for infants, helping the body defend against oxidative stress and helps in the regulation of thyroid hormones.
