FDA Delays Indefinitely Compliance Dates for New Nutrition Facts Labels

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it was delaying indefinitely the compliance date for the Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts Label and Serving Size final rules announced in May of 2016. Manufacturers with annual food sales of more than $10 million were to have been in compliance by July 26, 2018.  The FDA said that it “determined that additional time would provide manufacturers covered by the rule with necessary guidance from FDA, and would help them be able to complete and print updated nutrition facts panels for their products before they are expected to be in compliance.” [6/15/17]
