Court Rules Outside Safety Reports Admissible in Table Saw Case

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana has ruled that a 1976 Consumer Product Safety Commission report and a 1990 letter from CPSC to Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. are admissible in a suit claiming defects in the saw guard of a Ryobi table saw was defective.  The Court concluded that the documents were relevant to the defendants’ knowledge that table saws were potentially unreasonably dangerous.
