California Issues Draft Guide on “Alternatives Analysis” Required Under The State’s Safer Consumer Products Program

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control has released a “discussion draft” of its Stage 1 Alternatives Analysis Guide, an advisory document regarding the “alternatives analysis” that will be required under the state’s Safer Consumer Products Program to determine if chemicals in manufacturers’ and sellers’ products pose a significant health or environmental threat and to identify safer alternatives. The comment period on the draft runs through October 23. [9/30/15]
