Baby on Board With Federally Mandated Standards

The CPSC unanimously approved new federal mandatory standards for frame child carriers, which are commonly used for hiking and backpacking.  The standard, which will go into effect 18 months after publication in the Federal Register, addresses numerous reported hazards with such products, including sharp points, lead in paint, small parts, and structural integrity.  All manufacturers of frame child carriers should note the new standards for any such child carrier manufactured or imported on or after the effective date. [2/25/15]
